For parents that require it, Wiltshire County Council provide free, part-time, nursery education places for all three and four year olds in Ramsbury. Free nursery education comprises up to five or ten 3 hour sessions per week (i.e. 15 or 30 hours) depending on eligibility, for up to thirty eight weeks of the year. Parents do not contribute towards this minimum entitlement but are charged for childcare that is additional to the free entitlement place.

Each term, the Pre-School receives a grant for eligible children. Parents will receive an invoice in arrears, once per term, for supplementary fees. Payment can also be made with childcare vouchers.

Children become eligible for a funded place from the start of the term after their third birthday.

Please see Wiltshire nursery grants for more information.

Getting Settled

Each child approaches change slightly differently and we want to make the settling in process as gentle and easy as possible.

We can set up a number of visits where you or another carer can come with your child ahead of them officially starting. This allows them to gain confidence in their new surroundings while having the comfort of a familiar face. These visits also provide the opportunity for parents and carers to see how our Pre-School works, learn about our varied activities and get to know our staff.

When can my child start at Ramsbury Pre-School?
Children can join from when they are 2 and half years old. If you are entitled to 2 year old free funding please speak to us about how we can help you.
How many sessions a week does my child need to attend?

To allow children to get the most out of their time at Pre-School the minimum attendance is two per week for 2 year olds.

By the time they are 3 years old we ask that they attend at least 3 sessions a week. This gives them a chance to experience a range of activities across the curriculum and socialise with their peers and best prepares them for starting Primary School.

On average children 2.5 years attend 3 mornings, children age 3 attend two and a half days. However we do have some children who attend every day, every morning. There is always an opportunity to increase the sessions at the start of each term.

When will I hear if we have a place?

We do our best to offer children a place at the start of the term you request and will let you know as early as we can. If you do have any questions at any point during the admissions and enrolment process, please give us a call.

My child is entitled to 15 / 30 hours a week childcare - do I have to pay anything?

We supply a healthy snack for the morning session and charge 50p per session.
Breakfast/Lunch/After School hours can be funded, but food will be charged extra. £1/breakfast, £2.50/cooked tea. (Lunch is packed lunch not supplied by pre-school)

Some activities also incur extra charges, see fees section.

Can I use my free 15 / 30 hours entitlement for breakfast / after school clubs?

Breakfast club, Lunch Club and After School club hours can be used under the free funding but food is not covered and would be charged extra:

£1 for breakfast (cereal, fruit, milk, toast)
£2.50 for 2 course cooked tea
